Today's Path: 5 More

I have found out that it is harder than you think to come up with 50 things. I have struggled with finding the rest of my list. I now have a good start at a list of things that I have always wanted to do. Now the issue is finding the rest of the list of things that I might want to do.

Here are the next five that I have:

All five of these I have always wanted to do; however, the last one, live on the beach, I have wanted to do more than, well, just about anything in my life.

If there was one thing in your entire life that you wanted to do more than anything else what is it?

Today's Path: Thankfulness

Disclaimer: I am going to deviate from My 50 List posts today since it is the day before Thanksgiving.

It is that time of year when you look back on the past 12 months and consider what you are the most thankful for.

There are so many things in this life to be thankful for, and there are days when you are more thankful for somethings than others. Such as last summer when I was having difficulties with my asthma. There were days I was thankful for the ability to breath with ease.

Here are a few things I am thankful for this year:

  • My friends
  • My new sister-in-law (The sister I have always wanted, one I didn't have to grow up with.)
  • School (Yes, I am a little bit of a nerd, but is the friends and relationships that I have built while at school that make me the most thankful.)
  • My cousin (One of my closest and best friends.)
  • Each day because I learn more about myself and those around me
  • The wisdom passed down from my grandparents (You know, those little quirky sayings that you don't understand until you use them yourself.)
  • My health
  • My computer and the Internet (Yes, I am a little addicted, but they keep me in touch with my friends here in St. Louis and across the world.)
  • My family

I could go on and on about what I am thankful for, as I am sure you could, too. As always, though, I am the most thankful for the time tomorrow I am going to have to eat and be with family, although they are crazy.

What are you the most thankful for this year? Health? Friends? Family?

Today's Path: Riding an Ostrich

In my quest to find 50 things to do before I am 50, I have told my story to some friends to find out what some of their 50's were. The one thing I usually share the most is my desire to ride an ostrich.

I never knew why I wanted to ride an ostrich; I just do. I think that I might have seen it on an episode of America's Funniest Videos.

The other day, I went to KMOX to intern, and my boss was on the 3rd floor which was kind of unusual. Well, I came to find out that she was attempting to help me accomplish one of my 50's. She had went to K-Mart, and they were having a Hall-o-ween Clearance Sale. She found a costume that made it appear as if you were riding an ostrich when you have it on. The rest is history except for the pictures they took.

I am not sure if this counts as one of my 50's or not.
I guess it can be a Mulligan if I need it.

Today's Path: Another 10 of My 50 List

I hope that everyone has been thinking over their 50 Lists. It is quite hard to get to 50.
A few guidelines to remember when making your lists:

  1. Be specific. There are reasons why places have names. USE THEM!!
  2. Avoid using all, most and part of.
  3. Avoid grouping things (ex. mountain ranges vs. the Rockies).

Without further ado here is another 10 of my 50 List:

Today's Path: 10 of My 50 list

My 50 list is in the process, but it is still a long way from being finished (40 things to be exact). These are things come hell or high water I am going to do before I am 50. They are not too general that you can do them all the day before you turn 50 but not too specific that you won't ever get them done. These are not in any certain order.

This is what I have so far:

  • Skydive
  • Go for a Hot Air Balloon Ride
  • Visit all 50 states
  • Visit 6 out of the 7 continents (one down)
  • Wind Surfing
  • Scale part of the Grand Canyon
  • Drive a race car
  • Take the Polar Bear Plunge
  • Go to the Olympics as a Spectator
  • Ride an Ostrich

As you can see I still need some help.

My friend Gabe's list is:

  • Wind surfing
  • invent something
  • Visit a castle
  • Go on a safari
  • visit the pyramids
  • Ride in a fighter plane
  • Throw out a first pitch at a major league game
  • Visit Niagra Falls
  • Make my own film
  • Go to another country

If you have a list let me know and I will add it to the blog, and I will hold you to it.
Feel free to post as many things as you can.

Today's Path: 50 by 50

The past few weeks I have taken the time to set some goals for myself and am enjoying where I am going.

For a while I just haven't been feeling myself. I wasn't enjoying what I was doing, and I started questioning what I was doing with my life. One way that I have change the path I am on was by deciding to have a 50 by 50 list, 50 things to do before I turn 50.

My list is not fully formulated yet, but it is in the works. I have taken the time to start doing things outside of the box. I am a "normal" person for the most part, even though I do not believe in "normal" or "average." For example, Friday night I went to a Monster Truck Rally. Not something, the "old" me would do. While we were there they had Motocross racers jumping these huge jumps. I found that that is something that is not on the my list.

However, I am going to SkyDive. SkyDiving is on my 50 list, but I do need some more ideas. Let me know what some of your 50's are.

Here is some footage from Friday Night.

Today's Path: Why Things Happen

Do you ever wonder why things happen? You know, the reason behind the event?

This past Friday, I was on my way to Missouri Baptist, for their Perk event, and I was following this car that was going 55mph down Hwy 40. For some unknown reason I didn't go around them. I followed behind them at the good ol' speed of 55. On most days I would have sped around them to get to where I was going, but this time I didn't.

About the time I was preparing to get off the highway, a deer ran out onto the highway and the lady I was following SMASH right into the deer. I pulled off to the side of the road to make sure that everything was okay.

I don't know why I slowed down to follow the lady, but for some reason I did and was able to help them after they hit the deer.

Since Friday, I have felt more like myself. I have started asking more questions and being excited about everything.

There is a reason behind everything that happens; sometimes it just takes us a while to figure it out.

Today's Path: A Natural Phenomenon

Tonight I went to a friend's house to watch the Blues' game, they won 3-2 FYI. But that is all irrelevant. Here is what is relevant.

When I was leaving we walked outside, and as usual I looked up at the sky to see the stars, (this might just be the Aries in me but there is something fascinating about the stars and the beach to me) and bang there it was! A streak of light. It was a shooting star.

It has probably been 8 years since I have seen a shooting star; the last time being when I was in sixth grade and was ambitious enough to wake up at 3am to watch a meteor shower.

It was the single greatest thing I have seen in quite some time, but I also believe it is something everyone should see. It brings back wishing and believing that a shooting star can make your wishes come true.

If you haven't ever seen a meteor shower or a shooting star, you are missing out. However, on November 17/18 you can see a meteor shower. But if you cannot see the shower in November here is a clip of a meteor shower.
